AND STILL ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay, i'm a few hours early, but basically it's my 1 year anniversary.
i'm posting now cause i don't know when i'll be near internet again.
i had to say goodbye to my family last night. i didn't expect to feel this sad about it, but i keep getting pangs. my mother came home from the wedding early so she could come to the farewell party. and i got a picture with her!!! i'm not on my computer right now though so i can't post it. and uncle newton came, and andrew and zerrida and jethro and it was wonderful. i'm going to miss them alot. they keep saying jethro's going to come visit me and i think they might be serious. god i hope so.
we're leaving for jinja at 1:30 this afternoon, which probably means 2 or 3, even though they said muzungu time. i have to try to go swimsuit shopping today cause there's a pool at the resort and who would've thought to bring a swimsuit to uganda? how do you even shop for a swimsuit in uganda? i'll let you know.
i miss you all so much i don't even know how to express it. i've discovered it's like the phenomenon where the closer you get to the bathroom the more you have to go. y'know what i'm talking about? the closer i get to coming home the more i miss everyone.
SO SOON.
and carla, your comments are beautiful no matter what. i love you.

Awww! the farewell dinner is certainly bittersweet, CONGRATULATIONS on your 1 year anniversary, and on completing this semester in Uganda- you're totally awesome :) If you can't find a swim suit, just wear shorts and t-shirt into the pool (that's what I did). Enjoy Kingfisher! It's a total blast, and have fun with the presentations learning about what your friends did. Please say hello to Martha and Charlotte for me too! Safe travels back dear, can't wait to see you :)
ReplyDeletea whole year?! damn! you sure are a blessing. loving you, face!

you're fucking awesome ashley farnan. when i look back at all the things you've done since i've known you i'm sure more than ever that you could do anything you damn well please. i am supremely jealous. and lets make this jethro visit happen, i've been itchin' to watch elf lately, and he seems like the perfect company for pretty much any movie, but especially that one. sundaysundaysoondaySoondaySOONday

I can't believe we will get to put our arms around you in a matter of days!! I don't think we'll ever be able to let you go!! . . . but wait, if I don't have your blog to read, what I am supposed to do when I'm on conference calls???? Love you baby girl! Auntie Cynthia
ReplyDeleteA year ago I remember how awful I felt and how much I wanted you home. Now, I'm just so happy that you were ok and able to go to Africa and HOW MUCH I WANT YOU HOME!!!
ReplyDeleteI love you!!
It's 10pm here, which means it's what...6am there, so I'm thinking you're at Kingfisher resort, sleeping in one of those enormous and ridiculously posh cement "huts" and possibly presenting your research later today or swimming in the pool and watching movies and in the process of swapping music/photos/memories with your fellow SITers. I know you're anxious to get home, but I sit here and honestly wish I could trade places with you right this second, I miss it soo much. Maybe we can go back together- that'd be a blast :) Enjoy your last days there, knowing you have a lot to look forward to here- a lot of hugs on sunday and when you return to smith, J-term to relax and re-orient yourself, our last semester at Smith and then who knows what kinds of adventures after :) sending lots of love xoxox
ReplyDeletei miss you.
