Ash....totally cool you are such a friggin trooper!!! I am so envious, and proud of your bravery and conquest. Wow, I read your stuff up to now what an acclimation. Are you excited to see the African Animals that would be so cool I think. I hope you are really getting something valueable from all this, it sounds like you are. Are you introducing Leonard Cohen to anyone? Have you heard any original African music. I wish you all the best, with love------"raul"
Here's my Uganda contact info [*disclaimer to follow]
My student mailing address: Kati House, First Floor Plot 2, Kyagwe Road P.O. Box 23431 Kampala, Uganda
For DHL or Fed X, use this address: SIT/World Learnng Resource Centre Kati House Plot 2, Kyagwe Road Kampala, Uganda
*In terms of the [un]reliability of the Ugandan postal service, here's what S.I.T. has to say: The postal system, although reliable, is slow. Expect regular postal mail between the US and Uganda to take 2-3 weeks in transit. Families and students could write frequently, but should not get too worried if there is a lull in the arrival of mail. It is not recommended that you receive packages through regular mail. Sometimes they arrive intact, other times they have been opened and possibly picked through. Sometimes they do not arrive at all [*in other words, NO dean and deluca, auntie cynthia!!!*]. Do not have anyone send cash through the mail because it will almost certainly never arrive. Do not send electronic items unless you are prepared to deal with the inconveniences of customs regulations and taxes. If you need to be sent packages from the U.S., we recommend that you use FedEx but experience has also shown that it is a hassle to clear these packages and often extra costs are charged by the Uganda Revenue Authority office on collection of these items.
