-MY SEAT WOULDN'T RECLINE WTF!?!?!?!?!?!? of course i had to get the only seat on the damn plane that wouldn't recline! the flight attendant came over and wrestled with it for 5 minutes and finally shrugged with a "sucks to be you" look on his face
-a group of very, very rowdy frenchpeople seated all around me
-some kind of weird chicken mash for dinner
-did i mention my seat wouldn't recline?

Hi Ashley! Great start to the blog! thanks for posting all the background info on your program and scholorship. If you think that the State Dept is where you want to "serve your time" be sure to let me know. A very good friend just moved to DC to be a high level director at State. She went to school with Hillary and was her campaign director for NorCal. She could be very helpful in getting you in a good position. Looking forward to following your adventure. love, aunt Ja
ReplyDeleteYAY! It's really too bad that Uganda is so far away, I hope your second flight included a seat that reclines, and I hope Martha and Charlotte met you at the airport and you're enjoying the showers at Jeliza, and although the city might feel overwhelming now, believe me Kampala will feel much more manageable after your drop-off walk- around exercise. Be sure to go to the national theatre (walking distance from Jeliza) and check out the commedy shows/ whatever performances they have coming up. thank you for your kind message! that was so sweet of you. I can't wait to swap uganda stories :) If you want to, feel free to check out my couple of blog entries about my time in El Salvador: www. snichols-traveling.blogspot.com. Sending lots of love and encouragement xoxox weebale nnyo nyabo!
ReplyDeletePS: definitely let me know as the semester progresses what you're craving and I'll send you a care package. Personally, I really wanted some good books and oreos. I'd be happy to send anything your way!
ReplyDeletei adore you....mama
ReplyDeleteHELLO, FRIEND!
ReplyDeleteI love coming to this blog and seeing that wonderful picture of you. It makes me so happy. I feel like there couldn't have been two better choices for you on the plane than LC live and JP. That's magical. Can't wait to hear about your first day in Uganda.

p.s. I adore your mama
you're in uganda now! i can hardly believe it- do you know what the time difference is? I'd totally call you right now but I can't figure out what time it is in Uganda right now (it's 9pm in CT). Have a great day today :)
